Local-First Privacy

SmartCast is built with a strictly local-first architecture. We do NOT use external cloud databases (like Firebase) to store or mirror your media.

Your photos and videos stay on your device and are only transmitted across your local Wi-Fi network directly to your selected Smart TV.

On-Device Processing

To stream media to your TV, SmartCast runs a lightweight temporary HTTP server on your mobile device. This server only exists while the app is active and only serves files to your local network.

No media files are ever uploaded to our servers or any third-party cloud storage.

Network Discovery

The app uses standard network protocols (DLNA, UPnP, and Chromecast SDK) to discover compatible devices on your Wi-Fi network.

This discovery process is entirely local. We do not track which devices you own or your network configuration on any external servers.

Required Permissions

Local Network/Wi-Fi: Required to discover and connect to your Smart TV or Chromecast device.

Media & Storage: Required to browse and select the photos and videos you wish to cast.

Internet: While casting is local, internet access may be used for third-party SDK initialization and optional crash reporting.
